Description

This hole in the wall musubi joint recently opened in Feb 2019. When you step into the tiny shop you can’t miss the counter with their most popular musubis and bentos premade and ready to grab n go. You can also ask them to whip up anything you want from the menu.

They have about 20 different kinds of musubi but you can ask them to customize any of them. They’re known for their unique flavors and fun names that reference family members (like Daddy G’s, Yumi G’s, Mika G’s, etc). If it’s your first time here, grab one of their samplers so you can try a bunch at once.

Some of their homemade desserts are a big draw too. Check the refrigerator for their frozen creme brulee, which might be just as popular as their musubi. Their desserts are baked locally by a friend.

They also serve up traditional Japanese dishes like beef curry, bentos, and noodles.

The staff is so friendly and happy to answer questions or make recommendations. They’re already a local favorite.

TIPS + TRICKS

  • The location is a little inconvenient. If you’re heading south to Got’z Grindz, you can turn into the parking lot no problem. But if you’re coming the other way, you’ll have to make a U turn.

  • It’s takeout only, but no one will judge you if you eat it in your car.

  • Their most popular musubi and frozen creme brulee can sell out so get there early.

  • It can be easy to miss when you’re driving there so slow down when you’re getting close.

  • If there’s a musubi that you don’t see on the counter, ask an employee. They can usually make more if they’re out.

  • You can ask them to make up any custom musubi.

  • All musubi and bentos can be made to order.

  • They’re closed Sunday and Monday.

  • You can call in your order if you don’t want to wait.

  • Curbside pickup is available.

  • They also make spam musubi platters.

DID YOU KNOW?

  • Got’z Grindz is owned by Masumi and Tetsuya Goto. Masumi honed her musubi making skills working at Musubi Cafe Iyasume.

  • Their 3 daughters (Mika, Miki, and Yumi) help with the business too. That’s where the names for their most popular musubi come from.

  • Got’z is pronounced like “goats.” That was the Goto girls nickname growing up.
