Description
A $60 million renovation in 2016, turned this hotel into a cool, vintage surf-inspired oasis with one of the most photo-worthy pools in Hawaii. It’s very laid back and relaxing, but not at all lacking in charm or polish.
The Surfjack is known for its design and attention to detail, pulling from local designers to create every stylistic detail, from the fabric on the headboards and restaurant chairs to the wallpaper prin. The pool is probably one of the most photographed elements, with “Wish You Were Here” written out in tiles at the bottom.
The rooms make you feel like you’re in your own private bungalow, with comfy beds, private lanais, and thoughtful design details.
The hotel itself is on the small side, but it has a fantastic restaurant and bar, cool boutique, and they pack the schedule with lots of events and workshops (although those have slowed down a bit due to Covid restrictions).

They enlisted local designers to add one of a kind touches throughout the property and guest rooms. Artist Mark Chai designed the lamps. Tori Richard designed the upholstery used for the restaurant seats and guest room headboards. Roberta Oakes & Tori RIchard designed the staff uniforms. Andrew Mau designed the shaka wallpaper in the restaurant and made the Moana Vanity Mirrors. The copper Surfjack sign by the entrance was created by local jewelry designer Jason Dow.
