Description
Pre Covid, Workplay was a coffee shop and coworking space during the day, brunch on the weekends, and a cool bar with live music and karaoke at night. During Covid, the coffee bar and brunch are on pause, but they’re open for business in the evenings.
A big draw here is 4 private rooms that you can book and have all to yourself, each with a different theme (like Whisky Library or The Parlour). They’ve done a great job of making each different space (indoors and outdoors) feel unique and different from the rest, and you can reserve whichever one is calling your name.
The outdoor patio area is pretty casual and allows cigar smoking. You can pull up a leatherbound counter stool at the wrap around bar. There are comfy leather chairs and couches for a more intimate hang out.
Playful cocktail names go along with the bar’s name, like “Per My Last Email” or “PTO.” Not to mention a very long list of whiskey and other spirits, along with local craft beers and wine.

The coffee bar during the day is Temporarily CLOSED. The bar and restaurant opens at 4.

Table 2: It’s got a beautiful bright blue wall with huge doodles all over it and a neighboring wall of greenery. Try to find Bart Simpson, Darth Vader, Snoopy, and Batman in the doodle.

Whisky Library: It’s one of the 4 private rooms. It’s got a sultry lounge vibe with retro suitcases stacked up against the wall, plush leather seating, and a wall of celebrity photos.

Parking: There are 12 marked parking spots on Ilaniwai St. Look for the red Workplay signs. There’s additional parking at Kauhale Kakaako parking structure. The entrance is off of Halekuawila St.

Make a reservation, especially if you’re eyeing a specific room or couch area. They try to reserve some spots for walk-ins, but its not guaranteed.

FYI that this is a few blocks from the trendier area of Kaka’ako.

The outdoor patio and all the private rooms have tvs so you can see the live performances happening on stage.

They usually have karaoke on Mondays, but check their website to see what performers and events are coming up.
